Normally, each week’s Hump Day Holeshot is just one or two videos of some great off-the-line action, not five like today’s. But it’s difficult to hack up this week’s documentary on the 1969 US Nationals held at the Indianapolis Drag Strip. Considering this week’s “Spinning My Wheels” editorial, going back and looking over the heyday golden years of American hot rodding and drag racing just seems poignantly appropriate.

Make sure to sit and watch every second of this great old school footage, it’ll really pull you in to the time, look and feel of the decade with its psychedelic editing, groovy music, cute girls in go-go boots and miniskirts and gnarly nitro-burning front-engine dragsters, Super Stock muscle cars and wicked hot rods. These were the days of experimentation, rife with cartoon-character drivers, and bigger-than-life muscle machines.
