With the popularity of the pro-touring scene, finding a classic muscle car with a few modern luxuries by way of the engine, suspension and interior is not uncommon these days. However, few pro-touring cars go to the extreme of this ‘71 Plymouth Barracuda we caught word of through Carscoop. As it turns out, what looks to be a classic convertible is actually a ‘01 Dodge Viper under a serious disguise. Like what you see? Well you’re in luck, because the car is actually for sale right now on eBay.

The “Vipercuda” is being sold by RK Motors out of Charlotte, North Carolina and carries with it the same amazing quality and background that so many of company’s vehicles are known for.

Starting out as a clean 318-powered ‘Cuda convertible, this classic muscle car was transformed into a HEMI-crushing beast by Hudson, Florida-based shop Time Machines. There the ‘Cuda was stripped and matted to the complete chassis of a ‘01 Viper that had been crashed with just 23,000 miles on the odometer.

With the complete Viper chassis came a 450hp V10 engine matted to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission that also made it into the ‘Cuda conversion, along with the Dodge’s heavy-duty 3.07 rear end. To give the car better weight distribution, the engine was pushed up underneath the ‘Cuda’s windshield, which required a ton of metalwork fabrication. None the less, the engine made the transition intact, complete right down to the factory cables, hose clamps and air filter assembly.

Underneath the car you’ll find a dual exhaust system that exists under the rear bumper and a stock Viper suspension system with added Aldan coil-overs. The ‘Cuda even sits atop 18-inch Viper SRT 6-lug wheels in the front and 19-inch wheels in the rear.

Giving the ‘Cuda even more of a Viper feel is the interior modified from a five-seat to a two-seat setup. This transformation was made possible using a Time Machine fabricated all-steel dashboard that not only allowed for the A-pillars to be lined up and the large V10 to fit under the windshield, but also give the interior the correct Viper-inspired proportions. This dash houses all the original Viper gauges and a new Pioneer radio/CD stereo system. The interior also features the Viper’s OEM climate control system, power windows and locks, and shifter.

The car features 100-percent ‘Cuda sheet metal and is finished in traditional Viper Red paint with black detailing and Viper emblem details that match the stock black convertible top. All the trim and chrome pieces are original to the ‘Cuda, along with the polished stainless around the windshield.

One final tribute to the Viper powering the ‘Cuda can be found in the electronic forward-tilting hood.

Obviously this car is one of a kind and meant for someone who wants a muscle car that no one else has. With that kind of designation comes the steep Buy It Now price of $179,900, but chances are you wouldn’t be able to recreate this vehicle at such high quality for any less.
