Stiletto Roadster Kit Car Brings New Twist to Hot Rod Culture

Hot rodding is about more than just a certain kind of vehicle. It is about culture, enthusiasm and passion. And that’s exactly what the crew at Palatov Motorsports had in mind when they designed their latest creation- the Stiletto Roadster kit car. Inspired by the traditional hot rod, the Stiletto adds a new twist to the mix and you’ll have the opportunity to see it at the 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show this fall. What’s even cooler is that renowned hot rod painter Charley Hutton will be putting his talent to work by painting the unique modern hot rod for the show.

The Stiletto Roadster takes hot rodding to a new level. Reminiscent of the Plymouth Prowler, the Siletto retains some aesthetic features of a traditional hot rod but also features an advanced chromoly steel tube space frame chassis complete with a front and rear independent pushrod suspension.

The suspension comes with 4130 chromoly control arms, Bilstein coilovers and springs, and Aurora premium rod ends. Stopping power comes from Wilwood 4-piston brakes and two-piece vented rotors.

All this is found in a rather compact form with the car measuring 76 inches wide, 158 inches long and 42 inches tall.

Power for the Stiletto is meant to come from a GM LS3 V8 capable of producing 430hp. While there are plenty of cars on the road now that would scoff at 430hp, the Stiletto sits right in line with being a track beast, weighing in at just 1,600 pounds.

She may not look like much now, but the Stiletto Roadster kit car is built for business at just 1,600lbs.

Orders for this specialty hot rod are currently being taken with kits costing $39,900.

Kits include chassis and body components but no engine or transmission. The kit is built to accept the GM “E-Rod” LS3 engine and a GM transmission, but modifications could be made for other drivetrain components to be used. This is a hot rod after all, so the choice is really up to the builder.

There is no word yet on how the SEMA show-going Stiletto will be painted, but with Hutton behind the design, we can only image that it will be impressive. So if you’re making plans to hit SEMA this year, be sure to take note as this will be a car you’ll definitely want to see.
