We’ve seen people race on dirt tracks, circle tracks, drag strips, autocross courses and air fields, but have you ever seen people thrash their powerful pro-touring cars on a go-kart track? Well, that’s exactly what some of the big names in the automotive performance industry did back in March at the first ever So Cal Challenge.
Companies like RideTech, Total Cost Involved, Spectre Performance and CFR Performance were all out at the event showing what it takes to master a go-kart track in a pro-touring Chevy.
Check out the competition in the video above compliments of RideTech TV.Held by BlackInk Media on March 29th at Adam’s Motorsports Park in Riverside, California, the So Cal Challenge featured a bit of pro-touring fun with a twist.
Participants treated the go-kart track like an autocross course, racing through turns and straight-aways while avoiding tire walls and lamp posts.
Twenty two competitors participated in the event, including Jason Wilcox with the ‘68 Camaro test car from Total Cost Involved, Don Miller with the ‘72 Camaro from CFR Performance, Bret Voelkel with the ‘68 Camaro from RideTech, Brandy Marrow with the ‘70 Carbon Camaro from Spectre Performance, and Brandon Zambrano with the ‘10 Camaro from Saints Motorsports.
There were also some competitors out from Team Hotchkis, including Mike Hickman and his ‘68 C-10 pickup and Mary Pozzi, who took the event win with her ‘72 Pozzi Racing Camaro. The event was only in its first year so it was rather small, but we’re sure it will get bigger every year. This is definitely an event you’ll have to check out in 2013.
