You gotta check this out! See a 80’s Buick LeSabre go airborne in what might be the greatest amateur car jump on record. The guys over at Jalopnik are all over it and bring us this crazy video clip.
For obvious reasons, names and locations are unknown. How would “Officer Friendly,” write a ticket for this? Unauthorized use of Airspace? Unauthorized use of a Buick? Driving While On Crazy Pills? Whatever the infraction, the resulting death defying feat almost validates the risk of free accommodations at “the cross bar motel.”
The runway consists of one country road with a steep crest providing just the right amount of lift to launch this two-ton, malaise era Buick LeSabre Coupe into the wild blue yonder. Going a 100 MPH helps too.
The landing is amazingly graceful as well. The pilot masterfully aims this Buick and touches down to tarmac straight and true. He’s going so fast there’s no room for error here, and the laws of physics would be very unforgiving if something went awry.
Luckily, nothing does. Unless someone recognizes the car.
It seems that a lot of folks these days just can’t wait to post their shenanigans on YouTube, and these guys should be more than a little leery of the local Constable getting wind of this footage.
For now, sit back and enjoy the show. There’s a loop at the end of the video that replays the jump over a few times so you can savor the awesomeness. If Grandma only knew there was an undisclosed stop on the way “to the store…”
