There are few roadsters with more mythos than Carroll Shelby’s personal “Super Snake.” To honor 60 years of that legendary ride, Superformance and Shelby Legendary Cars have teamed up to create the CSX10000 Series. But instead of a 427, this modern tribute is a Godzilla Cobra, packing a 1,000-plus horsepower punch courtesy of a supercharged 7.3-liter Ford Godzilla V8.

“The Shelby Cobra Super Snake honors the mighty roadster built for Carroll Shelby in the 1960s,” said CEO Lance Stander, calling it the new “king of the road.”

The wide-nose hood scoop and LED headlights modernize the CSX10000-series Shelby Cobra Super Snake’s unmistakable face, while optional blackout trim and anniversary badging mark it as a limited-edition machine.

The Inspiration Behind the Beast

The project pays tribute to chassis CSX3015, the one-off roadster Carroll built in 1966 after losing too many highway battles to a friend’s Ferrari. His answer back then was twin Paxton superchargers and a lot of attitude. Stander noted that while the original car is worth millions today, this new iteration retains those bold lines while adding the modern touches and reliability that today’s collectors demand.

Custom leather and Alcantara upholstery, carbon-fiber steering wheel, billet shifter, and serialized Super Snake plaques blend modern craftsmanship with vintage racing charm.

Modern Engineering Under the Hood

This isn’t just a vintage shell. The car rides on Superformance’s safety-tested rectangular box frame with a TIG-welded ladder chassis. It features modern crumple zones and a fully independent suspension with adjustable coilovers. Stopping power is handled by standard Wilwood power-assisted disc brakes.

For those who want more control to manage the Godzilla Cobra and its immense output, options include power steering, ABS, and even traction control.

Ford’s supercharged 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 delivers the kind of output that would make Carroll Shelby smile. It pumps out more than 1,000 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque to motivate a lightweight package that weighs less than 2,700 pounds.

A Venomous Power-to-Weight Ratio

The centerpiece is the 7.3-liter Ford V8. With a supercharger and a unique tune, this setup delivers over 1,000 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque. Considering the car weighs between 2,400 and 2,660 pounds, depending on the spec, the performance is absolutely thrilling or terrifying, depending on your skill level or if you are the driver or passenger. It perfectly captures the spirit of the original Super Snake that Shelby used to eat Ferraris alive at 140 mph.

Massive 335-series tires fill the flared fenders, while dual roll hoops, LED taillamps, and special commemorative badging give the rear an unmistakably muscular stance.

Luxury Meets Limited Production

Inside, the cockpit keeps the classic layout but adds refinement with leather and Alcantara high-back seats, a carbon-fiber steering wheel, and a drop-down center console. Only 20 examples of these rolling chassis will be produced, starting at $120,000. Each one carries a serialized CSX10000 number, making it an instant collector’s item for those brave enough to drive it.
