Got the mid-week blahs?  Then hit play and kick it in to high gear with this crazy YouTube clip featuring a head on collision between a Honda Civic and a 1970 Nova SS.

Originally from the 2007 “double feature” film “Grindhouse” the title refers to film industry slang for “B” movie houses and drive-ins that usually served up potpourri of low budget blood and gore, car chases and serial killers. The advent of the video cassette effectively killed off this long standing Friday and Saturday night tradition for teenagers across the land.

The film consists of two feature-length segments, Robert Rodriguez’s “Planet Terror,” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Death Proof,” and includes fictional trailers, advertisements, and in-theater announcements. The film underperformed in the US and didn’t fare much better overseas.

Nonetheless, there’s one hell of a car crash to be seen. Our featured clip comes from Tarrantino’s “Death Proof” segment and involves stalker stuntman “Mike” played by Kurt Russell. He gets his kicks knocking off his victims by ramming them with his  flat black 1970 Nova SS with skull and cross bones and a chrome “rubber ducky” hood ornament.

What happens next is grisly indeed. Four pretty girls in a Honda Civic are hit head on by “Mike” in the Nova and the resulting crash sequence is an orgy of multiple camera angles, quick edits and twisted sheet metal resulting in ejected bodies, severed limbs, and each girls demise graphically played out. The Nova lands upside down but fares better than the Civic, which is completely demolished. That might the best part. Enjoy!
