We hate to see these too, but sometimes you just have to ask why, why, why? For most of us, if this were a Pinto, or a Pacer, or even a Matador, the only thing people would wonder is why they didn’t just junk it to begin with. But when you see a car like this 1970 Mustang Coupe that’s been left for dead, it’s disturbing from some.

This particular Mustang is dying it’s slow death in a field in Pennsylvania, according to CarsInBarns, and sadly it’s behind an old body shop which makes it even worse. The engine is gone, as is much of everything else, it seems, but it appears that at least the body could have been salvaged or used for another project car. How does a body shop allow a Mustang to sit untouched for so long? We don’t know.

Suffice to say, this Mustang has been more than just ignored and neglected, it’s been put out to pasture where it’s meeting it’s demise. It looks to have a nice set of wheels on it, and we’re sure that at some point this car would have made a nice muscle car for someone. It’s a shame, with the multicolor body panels it does appear as if someone, at some point, had thought about fixing it up, but as with almost any project  you never know what was going on with the car at the time.

Too often we see cars rotting away and the owner hasn’t bothered to sell it, or won’t sell it. We know that these cars can be a lot of work to fix up, but we’ve also seen a few shops that would love to have this car for the parts alone for their own project. They have a national database to pair people up with pets, perhaps we need one to pair people up with homeless cars, too?
