There’s always something cool being built at Rick’s Tanks so we weren’t surprised to see this unique unit going together at their west El Paso, Texas, shop. Co-owner, Rick Guerrero explained that this tank was for a first-gen Camaro and would be fit with twin, ZL1 Camaro pump modules.
He wouldn’t tell us who the tank was for, but we’d bet the house that the powerplant will feature a twin forced induction setup. Figure those fuel pump modules each support up to about 650 horsepower so there must be quite a demand for fuel under the hood.
The tank will also get Rick’s Vaporworks System treatment. The tank will incorporate dual picks in the corners that open and close with the presence of fuel resulting in no chance of fuel starvation under hard cornering. Next time we swing through, we hope to get a finished shot before they ship it to the happy customer.
It’s a shame that everything that Rick’s Tanks builds ends up underneath the car. Their tanks are just too pretty to be buried out of sight. We tried to snoop around the production area of the shop but they were in full tilt manufacturing mode. Welders were ablaze, formers were forming and tanks were taking shape. We figured it was best just to slide out the back and come back to look around again. There’s bound to be something crafty going on.
