281 Motorsports, a shop specializing in Mustang performance located in sunny Fullerton, California, had the honor of being selected by Ford to prominently display a large number of their project cars at the 2010 SEMA show. Here are a few of the highlights…
2008 Mustang GT – John Lynch, Orange, California
The first thing you notice when you look under the hood of Lynch’s GT is how clean the engine bay is – 281 Motorsports extensively modified the firewall and inner fenders to hide all the wiring looms, PCM, and fuse box, and conceal the relocated ABS module. You might also guess that the car has an A/C delete, but that guess would be wrong, since it’s there and operational, but all the lines have been rerouted inside the frame.
Don’t get the idea that the car is all show and no go, though. The car produces 572 horsepower at the rear wheels, and 501 pound-feet of torque. Engine and chassis highlights include:
- Ford Racing Aluminator short block
- JDM 3V CNC-ported and polished heads
- Ford Racing “Hot Rod” cams
- Techco 3.0L supercharger – 10 PSI
- JBA shorty ceramic headers
- BMR tubular K-member and control arms
- Progress Technology coilovers
- Techco Watt’s link
- Baer 6-piston front brakes
2006 Saleen #06-210 – Tony Burnett, Mission Viejo, California
281 Motorsports took the already exceptional Saleen Mustang to the next level with improvements inside the cockpit, under the hood, and most importantly to the suspension. A Griggs GR40SS suspension package ensures this S197 turns as well as it goes in a straight line.
- Saleen Super Shaker induction
- FRPP 62mm throttle body
- 39lb/hr fuel injectors
- FRPP shorty headers
- Fore Precision twin fuel pumps
- AFCO oversized heat exchanger
- McLeod RST Twin Disc clutch
2006 Shelby CS8 – Jason Cenora, Fullerton, California
We couldn’t get away without showing you the boss’ car – Cenora is the president of 281 Motorsports, and it’s a rolling showcase for their capabilities. A NOVI 2200 supercharger topped by a Nitrous Express plate system deliver a conservative 483 horsepower to the rear wheels, and Cenora has a timeslip reading 11.83 at 115 mph for the Shelby. The car has been featured on the cover of both Modified Mustangs and 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords. Here’s a peek at the spec sheet:
- 4.6L 3V
- Paxton NOVI 2200 supercharger with air-to-air intercooler
- Nitrous Express billet plate fogger and Ntercooler sprayer system
- Diablosport Predator flash tuner
- JBA ceramic coated shorty headers
