“Flo Sho” this 1965 Impala SS Can Certainly Show Off!

KenWare’s “Flo Sho” is a terrific example of what can be done with the beautiful style and performance package of the 1965 Chevy Impala SS. This sweet and low-down example of a cruising masterpiece has taken Ken the better part of the last four years to bring to its present level of excellence. Everywhere you look the attention to detail is only exceeded by the respect for the original design. No outlandish or severe changes have been made to the visual design in either the interior or the exterior. The design engineer’s creations are only enhanced to bring out the beauty that was already there.

Front and rear design cues of the mid-century Chevrolets echo through to the 1980's. The eyebrow front ends, jet exhaust style tail lights and the slight widening at the rear quarter panels helped make Chevy a consumer favorite in the era.

The Impala is powered by a small block Chevrolet engine that has been rebuilt, enhanced and brought to an almost surgical suite cleanliness by the owner. The same is true for the Turbo 350 transmission and the remainder of the powertrain. In fact, except for the body and paint the entire automobile is Ken’s handiwork. Aftermarket air conditioning, suspension upgrades, disc brakes at the corners and a slick tire and wheel combination make “Flo Sho” as comfortable and capable as anything rolling on the road. Having respect for the original doesn’t mean that improvements cannot and should not be made.

While some things can be left as the factory intended, others must be updated to perform in today's world. Engine and trans upgrades along with 4-wheel disc brakes, performance suspension, super sweet tires and wheels all make the Impala SS a performer among classics. The addition of air conditioning is a necessity in the Las Vegas area

The black paint is deep enough to get lost in which causes the subtle ghost flames to appear almost as a surprise from its depths. The stock chrome accents and badging remain true to the original design but like everything else on this amazing ride, is polished to a high luster.

Now you see them, now you don't! Ghost flames emerge from deep black paint like a magician's rabbit from his hat!

Adapt or Fry!

The look of the interior is not only dazzling to the eye but comfortable for the inhabitants as well. Continuation of the exterior black paint causes the chrome and stainless pieces to pop! Upgraded white upholstery material is not only luxurious and gives the SS a formal distinction, but also helps reduce the discomfort that occurs as a result of the desert sun’s relentless assault.

White materials on the seats and door panels along with a white custom steering wheel conveys a formal attitude for Ken’s SS. These touches also help to protect the driver and passengers from painful burns caused by the desert sun when it transforms automobile interiors into pizza ovens!

High performance can be achieved aesthetically as well as mechanically. Chevrolet designers have been responsible for a number of trends that have shaken the automotive world over the years. So it is not surprising that many Chevy fans don’t see the necessity for wholesale changes in body contours. Instead, they opt for refinement and personalization of what they consider to be a classic sillouette. It takes a lot of thought and work to bring an already classic design and performance package to a level this high. Fortunately because of enthusiasts like Ken Ware, fine creations like his ’65 Impala SS are here for us to appreciate as well!
