Video: Felix Baumgartner Does Donuts In His Red And White GT

As an extreme athlete, Austrian skydiver and daredevil Felix Baumgartner is no stranger to the idea of pushing the envelope. In fact, risk-taking is what makes up the bulk of his resume, which currently boasts a skydiving world record of 39 kilometers at an estimated speed of Mach 1.24 or 1,342 kilometers per hour, a record that Baumgartner just set this month.

Born in Salzburg, Austria Felix is no stranger to American performance, “I have been asked many times what car do I drive while in the U. S. preparing for RB [Red Bull] Stratos. Well, it is a Ford.” Baumgartner describes his red-and-white GT as no less than “iconic,” and our featured video is of the Red Bull athlete and daredevil pushing his “iconic” GT to its limits in an airplane hangar in Cal City, California.

Baumgartner is a man who fears no challenge, and our featured romp is evidence of just what kind of a “day job” he carries out. His extreme stance and no-holds-barred talent is made manifest through his rough-and-ready driving style, but as we watch him light ’em up one can’t help but wonder just how much those GT tires cost.

On his bio page, Baumgartner lists boxing, motocross, climbing, helicopters and “rallye” as among his favorite hobbies, but as we’ve now seen he’s just found another. While we’re not sure if the skydiving gearhead has a future in any of those, the prospect of rally racing just may one day be a part of his reality.

Is this tire-tearing display one that a true motoring enthusiast would engage in? Depending on how much you love your car we would hope not, but if the adage “if the shoe fits” means anything to anybody then it’s safe to assume that Felix Baumgartner has found his calling!
