Hellwig Products is a name that has been around for over 60 years. Many people may know them for their extensive line of products for the RV community, including sway control and load control. But they also have an extensive line of sway bars for the hot rod and muscle car community, as well.

Load and sway control is their trademark, but Hellwig also has sway bar sets for classic cars and even this lifted Bronco chassis.
Whether you have a classic Tri-5 Chevy, Ford or Mopar muscle car, Hellwig is all about performance, too. Their sway bars are designed better with better mounting systems to get the most out of your handling. In either solid or hollow bar configurations, many of their bars are adjustable, also.
We stopped by their booth at the 2012 SEMA show to see what new products they have. Behind the massive Bronco chassis sporting their 4×4 sway bars we found a drag bar for the 68-72 Chevrolet A-body. We realize that for many people, having a stiff bar can help with cornering, but this bar isn’t for the guy who wants to autocross or make short trips to the store.
The man behind the trenches, David Wheeler, said, “This drag bar is for the guy who is about 90% racer. For street use, this bar is for the guy who is going to drive the car to the track, race it, then drive it home, it’s really too much bar for a street driven car.”
The bar is a 4340 chromoly for strength and durability, and the end links utilize Teflon sealed heim joints for a solid mount that won’t budge. The hammertone powder coating gives it a great finish that Wheeler says helps to maintain the lubricant used on the bushings.
Hellwig has always been about providing good, solid mounting brackets for their sway bars, too. They’ve seen the generic sway bars with a single bolt mounting system and it’s never been acceptable to Hellwig.
Wheeler said, “We designed the rear mounting bracket so that you only have to drill one hole per side. The bracket can mount in place to the factory tailpipe mount.”
If you’re looking for a set of sway bars for you classic muscle car, or the new drag bar for the A-body Chevy, Hellwig Products is one place that shouldn’t be overlooked. Check out their web site and they will get you handled properly.
Even this massive Bronco chassis can't keep the creative minds at Hellwig from creating a set of sway bars for it.
