Melling oil pumps have been a staple for performance car engine builders for decades, and with their latest release, Melling will probably continue to be a staple in oil systems.  Introducing into their Select Performance line of products at this year’s PRI trade show, the Melling Billet oil pumps for big block Chevy and small block Chevy engines became an instant hit.

The pump housings and cover are made from lightweight billet 6160-T6 aluminum with a protective anodized hard coating inside and out that not only protects but also has a great looking appearance.

Driving the pump is a chrome-moly drive shaft that assures a smooth and strong operation of the coated internal gears.  Operation of the pump is simple.  Oil feeds through a removable stainless steel wire mesh screen in the bottom of the pump straight into the gear housing. The gears rotate and force the oil through the outlet of the pump and into the engine lubrication system.

The internal design of Melling’s billet oil pumps feature flow design for improved performance at higher RPMs that eliminate the need for anti-cavitation grooves.

Like all of the pumps in the Melling select line, these pumps are available in standard or high volume displacement, and each pump is shipped with 2 optional bypass springs.

• The big block pumps are available for 8″, 9″ and 10 inch drag and boat oil pans.
• The small block oil pumps are available for 7 1/2″ and 8 1/4″ drag or boat oil pans.
• There is also a small block circle track pump with off set screen for 7″ right hand kick out oil pans.
