It’s not in Edelbrock‘s nature to be satisfied with the success of the highly popular Big Victor intake manifolds to the point where they make no further effort in finding more horsepower and airflow.  As Rick Roberts, Edelbrock Engineer, explained to us, “The Big Victor 2 is the next evolution in the Big Victor intake line.”  That comment told us that research in the Edelbrock intake manifold lines is continuous and cutting edge.

Roberts explained that the Big Victor 2 intake manifold features some of the things that racers had been asking for or attempting to do on their own.  Features like:

• Raised carburetor pad.
• Raised runners.
• Extended dividers into the plenum.
• Longer plenum.

Matt Bieneman of MBE Cylinder Heads and Manifolds, commented on the manifold’s new design features; “What makes the difference here is the longer plenum which makes the longer runners shorter and the shorter runners longer.  The overall gain is that the middle two cylinders aren’t running rich to ensure that the outer cylinders get the optimal mixture.”

In short, the Big Victor 2 intake manifold incorporates a balanced airflow to all the cylinders which improves horsepower and efficiency.  Beineman also noted that the dividers had enough material that race teams could work with the dividers to adjust to their RPM band.  “Now you have a manifold that can get into the 7,000 to 9,000 RPM range in the powerband.
