For a gearhead there are few things as impressive as watching a 3,800 pound muscle car ride a wheelie. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are few things as terrifying as the thought of having a roll-over in a convertible. This YouTube video from this past summer manages to combine both, as we watch Jeff Wild send the nose of his 1970 Buick GS Convertible skyward, and land it right on the retaining wall. The resulting crash is really one you have to see to believe.
Jeff Wild Racing’s Facebook page, he and his crew recently secured another 1970 GS Convertible, and are well on their way to transforming it into a wheel-standing beast just like its predecessor. Wild will be reusing the same 464 cubic inch Buick that powered the old GS in his new convertible. The naturally aspirated beast features a .734 lift solid roller cam and 13.0:1 compression, and according to Wild it makes somewhere around 650 horsepower at the crank.
Fortunately Mr. Wild was able to walk away from this spectacular wreck unharmed, mostly thanks to a very serious roll cage that was built for exactly such an occurrence. However, the big yellow Buick didn’t come out so well. According toWe really look forward to seeing what Wild and his crew have in store for this new car, and we’re sure they’ll be back on the drag strip dragging the bumper in no time.
