Nothing makes you feel those “warm fuzzies” when it comes to the Christmas holiday than America’s favorite serial killer, Dexter Morgan, right? Well, Dodge’s awesomely unapologetic advertising campaign featuring Showtime’s hit series’ “Dexter” star, Michael C. Hall as the brand’s monotonal voice, has done it again.
After Hall’s voiceover work was lent to Dodge’s famous “Man’s Last Stand” Charger Super Bowl and the insanely viral “Oh Look, It’s an Invisible Monkey” ads, Dodge came back to the well with “Christmas Trees,” a great television spot featuring a Challenger decorating a massive Christmas tree while doing a 360-degree burnout (pay no attention to the Journey…gulp, I can’t believe we’re saying this…R/T).
We get a kick out of Hall’s deadpan delivery of some serious retro machismo. In a world where gobs of hair product, manicures, dry clean-only $1,100 jeans, and ridiculously orange spray-tanned men are becoming what the television is trying to tell us is the latest fashion, it’s nice to see Dodge and Dexter waving the “Screw What The Norm Is, I Know What is Cool” flag.
We want to see more in-your-face ads from Dodge. They’re doing a great job at communicating to a new audience as well as hitting a nerve with those pantywaist Prius driving emo/metro males with their man bags and caves.
