Earlier this month, we showed you a completed Woody wagon from eBay and asked the question: “Would you pay over $100k to get a Woody?“, and most people played on the title a bit, while others felt it was a bit too steep for their pockets. So today, we bring you another eBay Woody that is in dire need of some attention, and this car is destined for some serious wood.
It’s a project car at this stage, seeing as how it’s incomplete and needs a bit of a makeover that is above and beyond what Dr. Phil can do for it. That’s the down side, if you want to call it that, but the up side is that the original flathead V-8 still runs, and aside from some aged paint and a little rust, the body looks to be pretty straight.
The seller says it runs and drives, but is missing only a few things: front bumper and seats. The wood, he says, is in fair shape, and appears to need either a major refinish or possibly replacement of some pieces. Given the asking price of the Woody we showed you last week, the buy it now price of this 1951 Mercury wagon is just a tad over a third of the asking price at the $37,500 “Buy It Now” price.
Quite a few of our readers kinda dig the whole surf wagon thing, and we think they make awesome cruisers that attract lots of attention at car shows, in nearly any condition. So if you’ve got the skills to bring this car back to showroom condition – or even if you love it’s weathered, cool hot rod look as it sits, it could be yours for a pretty decent asking price. We like the white letter tires on the black steelies, what do you think of it?
