Sergio Marchionne’s SRT8 Challenger Brings In $175K For United Way

Yeah, if we were CEO of Chrylser we’d have one of these in our stable…along with a couple of 2013 Vipers…

Back in March we reported on how Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Chrysler and Fiat, would be auctioning his personal pitch black Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 to benefit the United Way. Now the results of the auction are in.

Much of Chrysler’s turn around has been credited to Marchionne. We’re glad he’s as generous a person as he is a shrewd business man.

The Challenger is a very simple but very nice example that features some custom touches you might expect in a CEO level car. The custom Dark Charcoal racing stripes were sprayed on by the master painters from Chrysler’s product design office, and are seamlessly tucked under the clear coat. The wheels were also painted matte black for a sinister look, and Mopar coilovers give the car the right stance. The 470 horsepower 392ci Hemi bellows through a Mopar exhaust system, and a 6-speed manual trans keeps the driver engaged while turning in high 12-second time slips. Like we said; very simple but very high quality work and parts.

There are plenty of perks to being the boss; Marchionne’s Challenger was sprayed by the master painters at Chrysler’s product design office.

So how much cash did it claim? Marchionne’s Challenger sold as Lot Number 3003 at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach held earlier this month, and brought in a total of $175,000 for the United Way of Southeastern Michigan. If you’re not familiar with their mission, the United Way is a non-profit that helps those less fortunate with everything from providing basic needs, to education and skills training to help people help themselves. It’s good to know that Marchionne’s generosity will help them continue their important work in the Detroit area.
