Never Give Up, Persistence Pays Off With This Super Bee Dream Car

1938For many of us, we see a car we’d love to have, and if we’re in a buying mood we might ask if it’s for sale, or how much. If we see that same car parked in the same spot for a period of time, we might be encouraged a little more to inquire about the car. But, as with most of us, we either hear a price that’s out of our budget, or the words “it’s not for sale” and we give up and go about our lives as if it never mattered.

But some people remain persistent, and instead of accepting the proverbial “not for sale” chant when a car sits for weeks on end, even months, they get to the point that they pester the car owner into selling the car. Some people become friends and try to win them over so they’ll sell the car, and some people just know in they heart of hearts that the car will be theirs one day if they just keep asking.

Now how long would it take before you give up on trying to buy a car that you really want? Knowing that it’s sometimes works, and that the reluctant owner finally gives in, would that keep you coming back for more?  Would it encourage you to ask again the next month? Well, with this Super Bee, we aren’t referring to time in mere months, not even in years.

1937How about three decades of persistence? How many of us would continue to pester a reluctant owner for thirty years to sell us a car? That’s exactly what happened with this rather nice 1969 Dodge Super Bee we found on Cars In Barns, that Randy, from Tennessee, has bought. He never gave up on this awesome car, and after seeing the car sit since 1988 he knew that he had to be persistent. He was, and now that Super Bee has a new home where Randy promises to give it a full restoration.

And that restoration is off to a great start, as Randy states that the car is numbers matching, and all original, with the exception of the battery. It’s a one-owner car, and still has the original spare and jack, plus the build sheet. So do you think that persistence is the key, or did Randy just happen to catch the prior owner on a good day? How long would you have been persistent?
