Most of us have seen the NSFW video of kid destroying a new Camaro during a failed attempt at a General Lee-type jump, but try imagining a Buick LeSabre doing the same thing with more success. TopSpeed scoured the web and found just such a video. They were even kind enough to link the failed Camaro jump for comparison purposes.
Normally when you see videos like this one, you almost expect it to end badly. The “stunt” driver behind the wheel of the ancient LeSabre manages to catch decent air and distance, without destroying the car after landing. LeSabre’s of this era are not usually the stars of a stunt, normally they used as targets for monster trucks or end up being crashed into during a car chase.
It is doubtful that these guys pulled the necessary permits for this one, but they did seem to take some precautions. The driver and his fellow cohorts employed the use of walkie-talkies to let the driver know that the road was free of oncoming traffic. Regardless of how crazy or reckless this “Hey y’all watch this,” moment was, you do have to applaud the guys for being concerned with the safety of other motorists even though this does not appear to be heavily traveled thoroughfare.
Sure it was dangerous, and since no one was injured, it is remarkably cool. It looks like the car lived to see another day as well.
