Once in a while, people come across a true gem at an estate sale. For non-gearheads, it could be antique furniture or linens. For us gearheads, though, we typically head straight for the garage to see it there are some cool tools, car parts, or, if the planets are all aligned properly, a complete car from decades past. One such car was picked up at an estate sale in Ohio, and that gem was this 1969 Firebird convertible.

When the owner of an antique furniture business finds something like this, you can almost immediately assume it would go up for sale. It did, in this case, albeit only after having some fun with the car and putting it back together in true musclecar fashion.

But now the time has come for this antique furniture dealer to part with his “own personal street rod,” as he calls it, and now some lucky soul will be able to put some more mileage on this 912 horsepower screaming ‘bird. This eBay find, however, would set you back a cool eighty grand if you choose to add it to your stable.

Now, most purists would have put this ‘bird back together with the stock 400 mill that comes with it, but the current owner says the crank had some issues and he chose to build something else. Was it a good choice to stab a 572 cubic inch crate motor into this Firebird and stack an 8-71 blower on top? Whether you’re a purist or a horsepower junkie, this just screams muscle and with the exception of all that motivation stuffed between the frame rails, it looks like a nicely restored ’69 Firebird.

Of course, if you are a purist, it doesn’t seem like it would take too much to return it to it’s original state, but who would want to do that without going out and having a little fun with it first? Sadly, though, this Firebird is up for sale because the antique furniture business seems to be just a little more appealing to the owner. Frankly, we’d part with all of our furniture to get our hands on this beast, wouldn’t you?
