ScottieDTV has spotted another rare gem, he has uncovered a 1969 AMX SS Super Stock Drag car. The car nicknamed Pete’s Patriot and it use to race in the NHRA SS/D class. Scottie spotted this AMC super stocker in “Somewhere” Indiana at an AMC show, as seen in the video above.

This AMX Super Stock was modified for performance by Hurst and is just 1 of 53 ever produced. It left the AMC assembly line equipped with a 390 engine, a four speed manual transmission, 4.44:1 rear gears, and drum brakes on all 4 wheels. The sticker price was $5,994 in 1969 about $2,300 more than the base model.

After the AMX left the factory, it was sent to Hurst where it would be hot rodded. Hurst would hop up the engine, strengthen the transmission, add an anti sway bar, and customize the interior for racing. The engines received JE Forged Pistons, heads modified by Crane, a manual tach drive, a dual point distributor, an Edelbrock Cross Ram Intake Manifold and two Holley four barrel carburetors. Hurst then equipped the motor with a pair of Doug’s Headers so it can exhale.

AMC advertised the car as having only 340 horsepower for insurance reasons however, in reality these cars produced 420 horsepower. The AMX car was capable of running 11.20’s to 10.70’s @ 125-130 MPH in the quarter mile straight from Hurst.

The car was owned by the Peterson Motor Company. According the sandwich board, Pete’s Patriot is an NHRA National record holder. However, the board does not list the specific record.
