Lisa recently came across a 1972 AMC Javelin SST and shared it with the interwebs on CarsInBarns.com. As soon as she saw the car, she fell in love and knew she had to have it. The Javelin had some dents in it’s body and it’s paint was faded but overall it was in good shape. The Javelin had spent the last 15 years of it’s life sitting in side of side of a barn waiting for the day when she will cruise the highway again.
The owner of the car was an 89 year old man who happened to own over 250 muscle cars. The old man’s family convinced him to sell all of the cars, as they didn’t want the burden of messing with them. The old man had his entire collection auctioned off in Nevada, Missouri. It was at this auction that Lisa became the owner of the 1972 AMC Javelin. She didn’t tell us how much she paid for it but we are sure she got a good deal as the car was not running at the time of the auction.
Immediately after she bought it, she took it to her friends garage. After some minor wrench turning her mechanic friend brought the AMC back to life. The Javelin was powered by a 258 straight six which smoked a little, but Lisa drove it for a year with out any trouble. She wanted more power so she replaced the little inline six with a mighty Mopar 360. The 360 was bored 0.030 over and cammed, she then completed the body work and had the car painted.
