The Jalopy Showdown is just around the corner. Its a really one-of-a-kind rat rod and old school car gathering that takes place at Latimore Valley Fairgrounds in York Springs, PA. on Saturday May 21st, 2011. Watching the attached video will give you a small idea about what goes on there and it is definitely out of this world. The culture is amazing, you never know what you will see; its a very diverse mix of rockabilly, hillbilly and 50’s style attitude.

The cars are amazing and these guys race around a dirt oval track, well, we should say mud track, and get into it deep, they don”t worry about their paint jobs either. Event promoter “Scary Larry” says that space gets limited and its first come, first serve, so hurry if you want a good spot. Larry also wants to cater to small mom and pop vendors, not the big guys. It’s all about fun and you have to attend this event to really grasp the whole hot rod lifestyle.

There is also a swap meet and vendor area and also overnight camping for those that wish to stay overnight. All the info including directions can be found on the Jalopy Showdown Site, so register early and admission is $10 bucks and it goes to a good cause (The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing). On another note, they will be holding their Jalopy Drags in October of this year as well at Beaver Springs Dragway, its really the only time these guys get to run these old cars down the strip because most of these cars wouldn’t pass regular tech inspections.
