The Ford Fiesta has struck a high note with both small car buyers, and enthusiasts alike, fueled even further by the release of the new Fiesta ST. KW Automotive is one of the largest suppliers of coil over systems in the world offering quality parts to even OEM speed suppliers, and even Mercedes Benz AMG Black Edition cars. They already have struts available for the Fiesta in Europe, and are currently working to get a new system approved for the US market.
The US market strut will begin with a V1 product, it uses a stainless steel housing. This system like the European market ST line will also be a height adjustable coil-over setup. The KW struts are built on a twin tube, low pressure hydraulic design. In the V1 line all dampening will be preset, and the strut will reuse the factory mount.
The V3 version has the same features as the V1, but will feature adjustment for compression and rebound. A club sport line that will straddle the line between hardcore street enthusiast and all out racer, as well as a race setup will also be available. KW also offers a lifetime warranty on their KW line of products. Spring rates have yet to be finalized for the US market products.
KW also includes an adjustable mount on many models. While the final specs on the US market product have yet to be finalized, we would expect this mount to incorporate camber adjustment to add additional tuning to at least the V3 line.
Tom Edge from KW tells us these struts come ready to bolt on, “You bolt it on, adjust your height and in the installation notes we give you the range of where the perch should be, and anywhere in that range set it up, and bolt it on.” Once it’s put together owners take the car to an alignment shop to have settings finalized and it’s ready to go. Shipping the product as an assembly reduces installation time, and allows enthusiasts to install the product in their home garage without the need to own a lot of specialized tools.
