We found a great story on the Camaro 5 internet forum which detailed a user named Disturbed1LE and his personal obsession with Camaros. According to his bio, Disturbed 1 resides in Aubrey, Texas and has been a Camaro lover for life. After starting a family, Disturbed 1 did the family guy thing and drove a sensible car, a Tahoe to be exact, and began his daily drives starring at all the Camaros on the local streets. “I drive a lot with my work and would always see these beautiful Camaros on the road. They would tease me in all colors and options. Until one day, I had enough,” he wrote.
Disturbed figured that his wife had a family car and there was no reason to have two family cars… he could finally follow his passion after years of sacrifice. He ended up buying a 2011 Black SS/RS Camaro with a sunroof and GM dovetail spoiler in October or 2012. Immediately he had the windows tinted (which is almost a “must” in Texas).
In no time at all he began to think about putting his own personal touches on his dream car. Researching possible modifications opened up other possibilities to the Disturbed 1. He stumbled upon a video of a 1LE car review. Instantly he was sold. When the 2014 model year Camaros were revealed, he went to the local dealer and ordered a 2013 Camaro AGM 2SS/RS with NPP performance exhaust, a sunroof, navigation system and his wife’s request… a larger spoiler to replace the dovetail spoiler somewhere down the road.
Dream car version 2. The AGM stealthy look with small dovetail spoiler.
Seven-weeks after placing the order, on a rainy Texas day, his new dream car arrived at the dealership. Wanting to make sure the car didn’t get molested, he requested that the sales team not subject his new baby to an automatic car wash and that the front license plate bracket to be left off. Serious about his request, he called the “make ready” team the next day to re-issue the request. With his paint, wheels and front bumper intact without holes or swirl marks in the paint, our Camaro fan went to the dealership to take possession of his new dream car.
Plasti-dip sprayed bowtie emblems and tail light bezels completed the exterior stealth look.
After picking up his car, Disturbed 1 had the first modification done. Again, tint all the way around was ordered (again, this is a must have in the SouthWest). Shortly thereafter, he performed his second modification by spraying plasti-dip on the Bowtie emblems and tail light bezels. Shortly after the emblem touch up, he completed his agreement by adding a spoiler from Unrestricted Motorsports. The one-piece spoiler was wrapped in matte black to match the hood and came without a brake light for a clean one-piece look.
The most recent additions to Disturbed 1’s Camaro was a cold air intake from ADM, complete with a race scoop and wash reservoir relocation kit and a set of DT shorty headers. The headers along with the NPP Exhaust undoubtedly put some more horses to the wheels. We can hardly wait to see what the next set of upgrades to this Texas pride and joy will be.
