eBay Find: A Low And Mean ’65 Chevelle Wagon Pro Streeter

$_57

Boy oh boy, if you like your cars with a long and low stance (as we do), have we ever found the ride for you!

Spotted over on eBay is this truly one-of-kind 1965 two-door Chevelle wagon, which is one of just 653 such models made that year in itself, that’s received the full “Pro Street” treatment, transforming it from a grocery-getter to haul the family around in, to a racey, low-slung performance machine with plenty of attitude and looks that could kill.

$_57-1Along with a drop that’s planted it almost firmly on the ground, this wagon has been done up in a radical flamed paint scheme that differentiates it from the norm, with a white base color and some well laid-out blue flames that stretch all the way down the long, sleek sides of the car. The tall cowl hood and blacked-out windows just add to the bitchin’ appearance.

It’s all business underneath, as well, starting with a 406 cubic inch small block, using a 509 casting number, 2-bolt main Chevrolet small block engine block that began as a 400-incher, filled with an Eagle 4340 crankshaft and H-beam rods, with forged pistons and a Comp Cams 284H Hydraulic Flat Tappet cam. The short block is topped with World Products Sportsman 2 heads with Crane rockers and girdles.

The stated figure of 550 naturally aspirated horsepower is sent back to te Ford nine-inch rear end housing and Detroit Locker setup through a built TH 350 transmission and TCI torque converter. The Pro Street look is completed with a set of DOT front runners up front and some large DOT meats out back to put the power to the ground.

Inside, you’ll find a blend of creature comfort and full-on race car, with a set of factory-style seats housed within a full roll cage and separated by a fabbed transmission tunnel underneath an aftermarket dash.

Not surprisingly, there are already some bids in on this sweet ride, although the reserve has yet to have been met as of this writing, but whoever does get their hands on this thing will have one heck a head-turner at the local cruise nights and car shows.
