Every year, at dozens of venues across the United States and Canada, Goodguys Rod & Custom Association holds some of the biggest car shows, awarding national prizes to custom rods and musclecars.
In the past few years, one event that has taken everyone by storm is the autocross, and it’s been so popular that people lining up against the fence have made it standing room only – and the crowd is in full force throughout the entire weekend.
For the 5th consecutive year now, Goodguys has teamed up with Ford Racing to give away a brand new car to one lucky winner. Last year, we had the opportunity to drive the Ford Racing Focus at the Meguiar’s 13th Del Mar Nationals in Del Mar, California, at the editor’s challenge, along with a couple of other very cool rides that were loaned out for the competition.
This year, the giveaway car is a specially-tuned Ford Fiesta, which gained popularity when Ken Block raced his Monster Energy-backed Fiesta ST in World Rally Championship competition.
Ford has tuned the suspension on this hot little hatch to handle the twisties of the autocross, and handle the straightaways smoothly with Ford’s electric power-assisted steering and the PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission. Powered by a 1.6L Ti-VCT Duratec 4-cylinder engine with twin independent variable cam timing, it’s throttle response is crisp while providing great economy to boot.
Just like with the Ford Racing Focus last year, the Fiesta giveaway, complete with a custom graphics package, is going to be available to anyone who stops by a Goodguys Giveaway kiosk at any 2014 Goodguys event. Simply register at the kiosk for your chance to win. Not sure which event is closest to you? Check out the Goodguys event schedule and make some plans to get this hot hatch into your hands.
