eBay Find: ’66 Mustang Coupe Converted To Wagon

Ford proposed a Mustang wagon concept in the late 1960s. While they thankfully never built the car as a wagon, we’ve seen a handful of Mustangs modified to wagon form over the years. The latest is this one we’ve recently come across while browsing eBay.

Item number 141240148974 started life as a 1966 Mustang coupe, six cylinder. The car’s owner in recent years decided to transform the car into a Mustang wagon. Using parts taken from a Volvo 240DL wagon, and obviously a host of fabrication skill the body was modified appropriately.

Doing more than just converting the body, the car also received a 514 cubic-inch big block Ford engine under the hood. A custom interior that includes 2+2 style tumble forward rear seat. Backing up the engine is a performance Automatic AOD, and the car rides on Wheel Vintiques wheels.

There are several other nice touches throughout, a dash that we can only assume carries Dakota Digital pieces from the look of it, beautiful cream colored interior, and a Lokar shifter. There’s Vintage Air to keep occupants comfy, and the windows have been converted to power operation, with the window cranks now acting as the switches.

We’re not sure what to think of this particular ’66 Mustang. The craftsmanship and quality are exceptional. We can find no flaws in the work that was put into it. In fact the car won a MCA Pinnacle award for Best Restomod last year. All of that aside, it’s just incredibly difficult for us to like a Mustang Wagon. Given that hundreds of thousands of six-cylinder coupes were produced for there’s no loss of a rare car here. It’s just the wagon thing doesn’t really scream performance Mustang to us.

MJC Classic Cars is the listed seller, and they have loaded 116 photos in their listing, so be sure to browse them yourself. Bidding starts at $35,000, and the listing claims over $120k invested. Tell us below whether you like this one or would pass.
