Video: Blue Lightning Electrifies RateMyRidez’ Mopar Madness Contest

Like rolling thunder, “Blue Lightning”, the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T, sweeps Rate My Ridez Mopar Madness with a sonic boom. This electrifying tricked out ride is nothing less than amazingly impressive. Rick Monroe, the proud owner, purchased this bad boy in 2012 with every intent on making this ride his most toxic project to date. The end result is an intoxicating Mopar with no restrictions.

Amazingly, this Mopar was found hiding in an old country barn in 2011. The previous owner, unable to pay the loan, hid the ride from the bank for two long years. After an intense search, the bank received a tip and located the ’09 Challenger and recovered the ride. Having been in hiding for two years and unused, the ’09 Challenger was found in immaculate condition and basically still a brand new car.

Fate striking in mysterious ways. this ride became available just as Monroe was pursuing a search for a stock Challenger R/T for his next project. Mopar destiny bringing the two together, he picked his new baby up quickly upon sight.

No stranger to customizing and modifying, Monroe gained his experience from trial and error. When he came of age, his father was older and while aiding his son some, Monroe learned mostly on his own from tinkering in the garage. With a ’73 Pontiac Ventura, a ’75 Camaro, and several Trans Ams under his belt, he was now ready to take on his Mopar fantasy. With a vision in mind, the transformation began.

Wanting to return to the era of cruising, Monroe began with the idea in mind to make this ride a head turner with whiplash. Striking with blue lightning, he choose a deep water pearl blue, accented with custom gloss black sprayed striping as the canvas of choice. Next, he added custom Mopar badges and Oracle blue led halos, under glows, and rim lights – staying with the Blue Lightning theme.

Completing this sick look he then added 45% tinted windows that were under laid with a lightning-patterned chrome tint. He installed a complete polished, stainless Magnaflo competition exhaust system, giving this Mopar a unique and electrifying appearance.

Stepping into the interior, leds continued throughout the inside of the ’09 Challenger. A Mopar stitched steering wheel and a complete Gemico blue chrome dash and interior kit were installed giving the ’09 Challenger a toxic overhaul. Completing the inside look, Monroe added Katskin embroidered Nemesis leather seats and custom door panel coverings.

Leaving nothing untouched of this original stock ride, Monroe dropped in a 5.7 Hemi V8 VVT Engine. Enhancing performance with the help of a DiabloSport Trinity T1000 tuner, the 5.7 Hemi V8 is producing around 420HP backed by a 6 speed manual Tremec transmission. Future mods to come include an Edelbrock E-Force Super Charger and Zex EFI chrome bottle nitrous kit with a 125 shot were added. Currently, the ’09 Challenger is putting down 425lb/ft of torque, giving this ride a solid performance package.

Finishing the engine bay area, cosmetic changes were made to improve the effect. Setting off the look of this Mopar you will find an airbrushed underhood image, and LEDs added along with custom engine covers, completing the Blue Lightning theme. Monroe, striking all areas of this ride, has taken this Mopar from respectable stock to badass cocky that commands respect. Through the month of May and Mopar Madness, Monroe battled it out with fierce competition, leading the way to triumph winning www.ratemyridez.com Mopar contest.
