The Somernites Cruise in Somerset, KY is one of the biggest car events in the world. Drawing thousands of cars and spectators to this small southeastern Kentucky town every month, Somernites should be on every car enthusiasts bucket list.

The cruise and show are held on the fourth Friday of every month from April through October, rain or shine. After the day-long car show in the historic downtown area, participants cruise the main four-lane strip with spectators lined up to see all the cars.

August is Mustang month for Somernites and the show organizers want to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of America’s favorite Pony Car with a 1,000 Mustang roundup. There will be several Ford related vendors including Ford Racing and Carroll Shelby’s Store on Wheels. If you crave a little drag racing action while you’re there you can hit the Saturday Morning Fun Run at London Dragway for just $10. The session offers participants as many passes as they can fit in during the event.

A special Mustang Alley will be set up for Mustang parking only. Last year Mustang Alley featured a record 643 Mustangs of every year and style. This year the goal is 1,000 and Somernites is doing everything they can to make that happen.

There’s also a 1989 Mustang Convertible ultimate door prize this year. Everyone who enters the Somernites cruise will get a ticket for the drawing. Additional tickets are given out for every $5 of Somernites merchandise purchased, and all tickets must have one of their halves dropped into the drawing barrel in the town square. At 6:30 the drawing will be held, a number will be called and you must be present to win, if no one claims the prize after four minutes, a second number will be drawn.
