Holley LS Fest West Las Vegas 2019 Day One Recap And Gallery

Day one of Holley’s epic LS Fest West show did not disappoint. It was full of events and action around every corner, and there were cars and people packed into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway complex.

One of the things that we absolutely love about this show is the variety of cars. It’s unlike any other car show. We saw hot rods, street rods, rat rods, muscle cars, drift cars, off-road trucks and so much more. The parking lot is full of awesome builds, and they just kept rolling in all day long.

The autocross course had cars ripping around all day long. Anytime you would go by the course you could hear the tires screaming for mercy as the drivers violently threw the cars into the corners as they attempted to get a faster lap time.

If it’s burnouts you are looking for this is the show for you. We counted over five different burnout contest throughout the day. Most of the contestants would not stop until the engine let go, or the tires exploded into shrapnel. It was very entertaining to watch as some of the cars even did tandem burnouts in a synchronized fashion. The crazy part is the guy kept the smoke-filled party going nonstop.

The drag strip was another hot commodity on the first day of LS Fest West. The staging lanes were fairly lite today as cars were coming in the gates and the going through the tech process for much of the day. We did get to see a few quick passes including Garrett Mitchell (Cleetus McFarland) as he piloted the legendary Leroy the Savage down the 1/4mile track running in the low 8-second range.

As the sun finally started to set over Sin City, the crowd got a chance to check out some of the crazy LS-powered offroad truck and buggy action on the dirt track. This course was home of some gnarly jumps that took their toll on the competitors. We saw front ends that were ripped off and tires that were no longer facing the same direction as once intended. After the drive got the hang of the track, it was all smooth sailing from that point on. Some of the rigs were managing with massive air with the slight blip of the throttle.

The final event of the day was the drifting exhibition with several cars lined up in the show. The competitors were rounding the course in groups of two as the sun disappeared behind the mountains in the background. As the smoke cleared, we ended day one of LS Fest West for 2019. Day two promises more cars, faster competition, and excitement.
