If you are building a Pro Touring car with an LS powerplant one thing is for sure, the factory oil pan is not going to cut it when it comes to the twisties and a high-horsepower engine. The factory pans work great for street driving, but they were never intended for road racing or autocrossing. The last thing you want to happen on a road course is to go into a turn hard and then come out of the corner with no oil over the pickup tube. This will cause your engine to prematurely fail, no matter how many miles are on the clock.
Milodon Inc. has exactly what you need to tame those Pro Touring needs with the new low profile Pro Touring/Road Race oil pan. This new oil pan offers a 6-quart capacity, even with the ultra low-profile design that is only 5 1/2-inches deep. It holds two more quarts than the factory pan and gives you more ground clearance, while utilizing a trapdoor system that will keep the oil from sloshing around even in the hardest right and left-hand turns.
The Pro Touring pan is designed to be used with the LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, and LS7 engines, and fits most GM chassis including the Corvette. The pan uses a billet filter block that can either mount to the pan, or you can run -AN fittings and lines to remote mount the filter housing. This will allow you to run either the factory oil filter or you can run a ’70s-style filter for 40-percent better filtration. Milodon also offers a pick up tube, windage tray, pan bolts, gaskets, and other accessories you might need.
