Drag and drive events can be as fun as you want to make them. Plenty of people just want to enjoy a vehicle they’ve built and their main goal is just to finish. Then you have people like Chuck Stefanski, who wants to go as fast as possible in whatever he brings to the track. Chuck’s 2024 Sick Week was truly an adventure and he loved every minute of it.

In an ideal world, you’d have your drag and drive car finished up and tested long before you hit the road. Well, Chuck and his friends fought just to get his 1981 LeMans station wagon ready until it was time to start Sick Week. The epic thrash ended with a car that was moving under its own power, but nobody knew how it would perform.

When the madness of Sick Week started, Chuck immediately had a variety of challenges hurled at him that might have stopped a sane person from continuing. But here’s the thing, this wasn’t Chuck’s first rodeo, so he and his friends just worked each problem that was thrown at them so the adventure could continue. Chuck dealt with everything from an alternator pulley launching itself off the car, to a PMU dying unexpectedly, but it never stopped him from pushing forward.

After a week of no sleep, lots of stress, many miles on the road, and countless memories made, Chuck rolled into Orlando for the final day of competition. Not only did Chuck finish Sick Week, but his wagon ripped off a 7.46 at 185 mph. That’s one heck of an accomplishment for a vehicle that was assembled in about a week.
