There are always a lot of surprises at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas, but Detroit Speed pulled out all the stops this week. It shocked showgoers with its all-new full vehicle suspension systems for B- and E-body Mopars.

The setups are initially for 1968-70 B-bodies and ’70-’74 E-bodies and should be available in the first quarter of 2027. These are complete systems for the front and rear of these cars, from engine cradles and control arms to its fabulous Quadra Link rear suspension.
“We have a front suspension, rear suspension, and chassis stiffening kits for B- and E-body Mopars,” said Nate Peterman of Detroit Speed. “We have a cast aluminum cradle that bolts right in. From there, we have forged aluminum upper and lower control arms. This will let you get your Mopar extremely low. It’ll ride and handle great and package all of your popular Mopar engine options.”

The upper and lower control arms, as well as the spindles, add beauty to the functionality. Detroit Speed uses QA1 coilovers. It utilizes a front-steer rack-and-pinion setup. No more steering box, but you will need a rear sump oil pan —which is not a bad thing since that’s where all the oil goes when you mash the throttle.
“The upper and lower control arms optimize all the geometry, so you actually eliminate the factory shock towers,” Peterman said. “What this does for you, one: you get better suspension geometry, so ride and handling will be a lot better. It will turn into the corner a lot sharper than anything that uses the factory Mopar upper A-arm mounts, but it also gives you some extra engine bay clearance. By removing the shock tower, you can actually remove a valve cover on your HEMI.”
This setup also eliminates the factory spindles and there are no more wheel bearings to grease. It will accept all popular aftermarket brake setups with a 5×4.5-inch bolt pattern to accept all the popular Mopar wheels.

“The ride and handling is amazing on it,” said Peterman. “It’s going to drive like a modern sports while, while it sits really low.”
But Wait, There’s More …
Moving rearward, it has a transmission crossmember for all transmissions, both old and new from the factory (stick or automatic), as well as TREMEC T56, TKX and other popular swap transmissions. It even works with the factory crossmember. There will also be a universal tunnel kit available, so you can raise the tunnel a little bit to package everything, as well as help you get the vehicle even lower.

For chassis stiffening, there are also frame connectors and torque box reinforcements on the way.
“With the unibody, it is really important to stiffen up the chassis in certain weak areas so you get the full performance out of your suspension,” Peterman said. “We do that with front and rear torque box reinforcements, as well as subframe connectors. They integrate right into the unibody. It looks like a factory piece when it’s all installed.”

Detroit Speed has been famous for its QuadraLink rear suspension for a long time and now there will be one for these Mopars. It is a four-link conversion with coilovers, so no more leaf springs. This allows a huge ride-height adjustment, so you set the car up with a little bit of rake or level if you’d like it.
“We have a really easy-to-move coilover mount on the bottom, so that’s your course adjustment, and you’ve got fine tuning adjustment with your spring adjusters,” Peterman said. “But with the QuadraLink, we use the patented Swivel-link technology. It’s a rubber bushing link and the link itself pivots. So this gives your great NVH It rides down the road nice and quiet.”

The Quadralink actually allows you to use up to a 3.5-inch exhaust over the rear axle with the factory fuel tank. Detroit Speed made modifications to the trunk floor to allow some additional room for exhaust packaging.
Detroit Speed partnered with Auto Metal Direct on the inner minitubs, so you’ll be able to package 345mm rear tires in it.
Up front, sheetmetal aprons will be available to update the look of the inner fenders.

“Especially these B-bodies, 19- and 20-inch wheels fill out the wheelwells really well,” said Peterman. With the right suspension, you can take this big, heavy car and make it handle like a sports car.”
