In recent years, aftermarket companies have begun to take the hassle out of EFI swaps by developing more easily tuned systems that require less headache and fear by musclecar enthusiasts.
While many self-learning EFI kits found on the market today are all quality engineered systems, they come with a basic EFI-capable fuel system to get your car running. These systems are adequate in regard to supplying fuel to the engine, but one thing that seems to get overlooked is getting the fuel out of the tank under any condition.
Fuelab has worked to perfect fuel delivery to any application, with particular attention to performance utilization. The company’s Twin Screw Brushless Fuel Pump Surge Tank Systems is another example of this.
The Fuelab fuel surge tank system is designed to prevent fuel starvation because of sloshing fuel or limited tank baffling. For those that are spirited drivers and like to do a little canyon carving, street course racing, or autocross, this system is perfect for your needs.
Any driving where fast changes happen can allow air to be picked up by the main fuel pump. Fuelab’s fuel surge tank system maintains a small amount of fuel to operate its own internal pump to supply high fuel flow rates, while only needing a relatively low fuel rate from the main fuel tank pump. The cool thing with these systems is they are matched with Fuelab’s twin-screw pumps to eliminate the need for multi-pump solutions up to 1,250 horsepower engines.
Currently, Fuelabs offers six different systems based on fuel demand. Each system comes with a speed controllable, twin-screw DC brushless fuel pump:
- 61701 2.1L Fuel Surge Tank System rated at 250lph.
- 61702 2.1L Fuel Surge Tank System rated at 350lph.
- 61702 2.1L Fuel Surge Tank System rated at 500lph.
- 61711 2.7L Fuel Surge Tank System rated at 250lph.
- 61712 2.7L Fuel Surge Tank System rated at 350lph.
- 61713 2.7L Fuel Surge Tank System rated at 500lph.
These systems allow for high fuel flow output with little or no modifications to the OE fuel tank and module. They incorporate an integrated controller with PWM speed control and are billet aluminum construction. Compatible with pump gas, racing fuel, and E85. A return line is required to return excess fuel back to the vehicle fuel tank.
