Last year, Mahle released their Original Line of OE-quality gaskets and have expanded the coverage of that line, significantly. However, Mahle isnβt content with just doing factory-type gaskets, so theyβve kicked it up a notch. βWe launched the Mahle Original line last year, and now we currently have over 10,000 SKUβs, but they are all stock replacement gaskets,β says Bill McKnight. βWe wanted to supplement our performance aftermarket parts with gaskets to match, so we introduced the Mahle Performance Gasket line.β
βOur goal is to keep the price point reasonable while offering a viable performance option,β says McKnight. βThey are all high-end products using proven performance technologies.β The line consists of items like Multi-Layer Steel head gaskets and advanced oil pan, valve cover, and intake manifold gaskets, which permanently adhere to the static surface, while allowing the complementary part to be removable, and maintain sealing through a number of removal and reinstallation cycles.
Starting out with 192 part numbers, the Mahle Performance Gasket line is about 40-percent of the forecasted catalog, with the remainder being released very soon. βWe looked at the market, and have determined that about 400 part numbers will cover 98-percent of the performance aftermarket,β McKnight says. βWe started off with 192 part numbers right out of the gate. The remaining part numbers should all be ready to go by the second half of 2018.β
Mahle is putting the same OEM-level of development into their new performance line of gaskets as weβve come to expect from all of their performance aftermarket components, which means they are going to be an amazing option for your performance-oriented build.
