Noah Alexander has made his own place in automotive history as he becomes the winner of the 2024 SEMA Battle of the Builders. He built a very slick 1968 Dodge Charger, which was both carefully crafted and innovative, standing tall above all those other top-notch builds competing for the top prize.
The Charger, built in St. Louis, Missouri, by Classic Car Studio, is proof of Alexander’s extreme detail in his work. A sleek body shell and powerful 440cid engine are paired with an interior with a vibe of luxury. His car was impressive because of its sleek construction, innovative engineering, and sheer elegance.
This put Noah Alexander in direct competition with some of the finest automotive craftsmen in his field, all working on their own remarkable projects. Take Bruce Yarnell, for example, who displayed a 1965 Aston Martin DB5. But it was more than just a restoration. It was a tribute to James Bond. Not any DB5, though. Yarnell’s car was fully restored based on the standards of Kevin Kay Restorations to make it the ultimate 007 machine.
Then there was Rob Lindsay’s 1949 Willys Pickup. Just a perfect combination of classic styling with extreme off-road capabilities. Lindsay took the original standard cab pickup and transformed it into an extended cab, building it on a custom tube chassis. Under the hood was a powerful Whipple-supercharged LS3 engine paired with a paddle-shifted transmission. The independent front suspension provided an amazing 26 inches of front-wheel travel and an incredible 32 inches of rear-wheel travel.
Connor McElvain, the youngest of competitors, presented a 1969 Datsun 2000 Roadster. Connor’s Roadster was a true masterpiece by classic design, improved by modern performance enhancements. He started with a custom CAD-designed chassis based on a 3D scan of the original car. This allowed him to install some advanced features like pushrod/cantilever suspension and billet rocker arms. He now powered the Roadster by using a modified SR20 engine with a P11 Neo head, SR16 camshafts, and dual Weber 45 carburetors.
SEMA Battle of the Builders is an ultimate display of creativity and ingenuity in building cars. It presents the world’s best builders at one place for one title. This year, too, has proven to be quite intense with thousands of vehicles around the states along with diverse, unique and incredible machines trying to take the title.
