SEMA 2012: OER Parts For Restoring Your GM Or Chrysler

When it comes to restoring your classic Chevrolet or Mopar, one company that has made a huge impact on replacement parts is OER – Original Equipment Reproduction. Using the highest standards for reproduction parts, the focus is on original quality and appearance, as well as something that you don’t get from the average dealership – parts availability.

For many restoration shops, the availability of parts and the quality of those parts have been two factors that can delay a job and add frustration to the build. Finding the right part, and having it fit properly can save valuable time and help get the job done sooner.

OER is a manufacturer that prides itself on the details and the demands of a meticulous restoration industry. Their extensive product line covers Chevrolet as far back as 1947 and Mopar as far back as 1960, including trim, emblems, body and mechanical parts and even accessory items, too. From the hard-to-find parts to the one-year-only parts, OER is one company that makes sure these parts are available to the industry. Many of OER’s parts also carry the GM or Mopar logo, so you know they are endorsed by the OE manufacturer.

Ray Yager, Marketing Director with OER, pointed out a particular one-year-only part on display at their booth at SEMA. “Many companies won’t carry these parts, but we do. Some parts like this bezel fit one year and nothing else, but we have it,” Yager said. He was adamant to point out that OER is dedicated to producing the hard to find and rare parts, and to make sure that they fit properly.

OER saw a need to reach out to parts stores and restoration shops, and to offer them an opportunity to stock and distribute these parts at the dealer level. This means there is a minimum buy in, and dealers will be required to establish and maintain an inventory. So the general consumer won’t be able to buy parts directly from OER without a commitment, but they can ask for OER by name at their local restoration shop or at participating GM or Mopar automobile dealerships.

Qualifying businesses interested in becoming a dealer for OER can check out their web site and contact them for more information on the requirements of becoming a dealer.
