With late model engine swaps into earlier vehicles trending right now, it makes us wonder why there aren’t a whole slew of kits available to make the whole process a little more bearable. Unless being professionally swapped at a performance shop, one would have to carefully find parts that fit well with each other to create their own do-it-yourself kit. For those of you entertaining the thought of swapping your 2nd generation F-body Camaro/Firebird with an LS motor, these components might make your decision a little bit easier to make.
Hooker and Holley have teamed up to bring you a complete solution for swapping LS motors into 2nd generation Camaros and Firebirds. The parts include your choice of headers, a full exhaust system with a choice of 2.5″ or 3″ tubing, motor mounts, a transmission crossmember, and an oil pan. All you need to supply is the motor and transmission – everything will bolt up flawlessly, with no clearance or driveline angle issues. If you don’t want to run long tube or mid length headers, a cast iron exhaust manifold is available as well. They’ve even gone as far as splitting the F-body into early and late designs being that there was a major floor redesign which actually gives them more room to suck the exhaust up under the car for more ground clearance.
Another cool part about this kit is that they give you a choice of transmission crossmember to fit either a 4L80E or a T56, which would come behind an LS motor in the first place. This is currently the only complete solutions kit on the market and requires no fabrication of any sort, thus making life easier on the customer and their wallet.
