The SEMA Show is an amazing event when it comes to getting a birds eye view on the state of the after market industry. It is a summit for innovators, idea seekers, and the ambitious to get inspired and showcase their contributions to the ever-evolving culture of the automobile. Amidst all the new product signs and business banners mounted proud in hopes to garner the attention of exhibit attendees the site of beautiful custom cars dotting the show is a spectacle all its own.
As Rod Authority was closing out its coverage of the week long after market affair we had the opportunity to stop at booths with classics that had been catching our eye since the first day we walked the Las Vegas Convention Center. One of those cars in particular was a 1934 3-Window Ford that sat proud at the Unique Specialty & Classic Cars booth.
There’s nothing like a restored period-correct classic. For all the style and flare that we love and are used to seeing within our hobby the factory restoration is a testament to design mastery during a golden era of domestic automobiles. Read on for a look at what Unique Specialty & Classic Cars does as a company and to get a closer look at the beautiful ’34 that was on display. Rod Authority got a chance to speak with Jeff Kuchenbecker of Unique and he took some time to give us some details on the ’34. “This Ford belongs to a gentlemen who owns about 30 plus cars in his collection. One of the things we specialize in is buying and selling classics and this is one we’re helping to try and sell. The owner has been collecting Fords for some time and has started gravitating towards classic Mopars. It was a three year restoration and has 30 miles on it. Unique is asking $130,000.”
Richard Rawlings, owner of Gas Monkey Garage featured on the TV-Show Fast N’ Loud, was in and out of the booth during the convention and according to Unique had expressed some interest in the ’34.
This car was bought from a museum and then sold to the current owner. Being a museum piece we suspected that it would feature some impressive original details and parts. The ’34 is indeed an all steel original metal car with the original grille intact as well. In the back you’ll find the stock rumble seat and a roll down rear window. The front features a crankout windshield and the original headlight assemblies.
For some updated convenience and creature comfort power locks, power windows, and AC were retrofitted. Under the hood, the ’34 is touting a 351 Ford Winsor V8, stainless steel headers, and a ceramic coated exhaust. It pushes out 480 hp and 440 ft/lbs torque. The body sits on a TCI frame, and sports TCI front suspension, a 9-inch rear end, and Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners.
