Modern Driveline (MDL) is a five and six-speed conversions company that has been around for 20 years, providing transmission solutions for classic automobiles. Each of its transmission kits is custom tailored to the individual car it will be installed.

The company had a number of different driveline components on display in its booth at the 2018 SEMA show. Among them were the centerpieces of any MDL system – the transmissions themselves. Modern Driveline utilizes Tremec transmissions, and they were showcasing the T5, TKO, and, of course, the venerable T56 Magnum.

We had a chance to catch up with Bruce Couture of Modern Driveline, and he further explained some of the offerings on display.”We couple the Tremec transmission with Quicktime products, and our own line of flywheels, clutches, hydraulics, and custom crossmembers. We use Dynotech aluminum driveshafts, and QA1 carbon fiber driveshafts, rated to handle 2,000 horsepower! ”

Bruce also got in-depth about MDL’s line of clutches, “We do a lot of custom clutches. We actually build them in-house. We’ve been building clutches that cater to the user who is looking for drivability above all else. It’s amazing how many clutches we have out on the market today. The idea behind that is – we want to make sure a person really takes the time to choose the right clutch for them. Basically, we just want to make sure that what they have is going to last, and that we continually give value to our customers.”
