SEMA 2022 was a wild spectacle from start to finish. Most every big name in the industry was there showing off their latest builds and newest automotive hardware. There are 4.6 million square feet of exhibition space in the Las Vegas Convention Center and every square inch held something fantastic to behold.
Over at the Holley booth, B is for Build showed off their wild mid-engine, widebody Mustang powered by an LS motor. We fully expect gasps from the traditionalists here, but check this thing out.
This wild 1967 “Mustang” began life as a Bugatti Veyron starring in the Need For Speed film based on the video game. Chris Steinbacher of B is for Build got to work transforming the car from a movie car to what you see before you here. Chris took delivery of the car after it had been wrecked, by a fictitious cop car in the movie, and then the metamorphosis began.
Chris saw a Mustang Boss 302 rendering done by Karan Adivi, and from that digital image, crafted a real-life running vehicle — a daunting task indeed. Chris used Adivi’s render of a 1969 Mustang as a stepping-off point and then turned the clock back two model years and settled on a 1967 Mustang exoskeleton to drop on the exotic tube chassis.
The guys finished it just in time for SEMA 2022, and we’re all thankful we got to see it in person. This project was quite an undertaking and guaranteed to create controversy with its Italian spine and Chevrolet heartbeat. Check out the video below for a great overview of this freaky Mustang.
