Edelbrock unveiled new products at the 2024 SEMA Show. The collection included E85 compatibility with the VRS-4150 carburetor, a multi-tasking 850 cfm 4150 carburetor, and two new finishes for the BBC intake manifold.
We met with Edelbrock’s Brent McCarthy, and he shared some insight into the new products.
E85 4150 Carburetor: Tailored For Ethanol Performance
Edelbrock’s new 850 cfm VRS-4150 carburetor is specially calibrated for E85 fuel. With the rising popularity of ethanol-based fuel, the demand for carburetors that can handle higher flow rates is growing, and Edelbrock has responded by designing this model to deliver 30 percent more fuel flow than standard versions, thus, it’s ready to meet the needs of both racing and street applications with optimal energy output.
The E85-specific model is equipped with four-circuit billet metering blocks and larger fuel jets. With dual 50cc accelerator pumps for quick throttle response, and features like annular boosters and advanced baffling, the carburetor delivers a steady and reliable fuel flow. McCarthy adds that this model includes convenient features like a GM three-wire throttle position sensor and four vacuum ports, making it easier to integrate into a variety of setups — perfect for enthusiasts looking for smooth installation and consistent performance.
New 850 CFM 4150 Carb: Built For High Flow And Control
The latest 850 cfm 4150 carb in Edelbrock’s VRS-4150 series is designed to answer the call for high-flow performance, which is ideal for demanding applications. Known for its reliable fuel management, this model comes with a suite of features that appeal to both racers and engine builders. For example, the carburetor’s taller, single-piece main body improves air-fuel mixing, enabling engines to perform efficiently even up to 6,500 rpm.
This carburetor brings flexibility to tuning with its four adjustable fuel circuits, mechanical secondaries, and 20 percent larger fuel bowls, allowing users to fine-tune their setup. Practical features like the 1/8-inch NPT inlet fitting, dual 50cc accelerator pumps, and auxiliary idle adjustment make it straightforward to customize performance to match specific engine needs. McCarthy notes that this carburetor isn’t just powerful — it’s also versatile, delivering features that users can easily adapt to their performance goals.
BBC Air-Gap 2-R Intake Manifold In Chrome And Black Plasma Finishes
For enthusiasts who appreciate style alongside function, Edelbrock’s new plasma finishes offer an aesthetic boost to the BBC intake manifold. Available in both chrome and Black Plasma, these finishes offer a clean, professional look. According to McCarthy, this upgrade reflects Edelbrock’s understanding of enthusiasts’ desire for visual appeal as much as performance under the hood.
The BBC intake manifold, compatible with 396-502 cubic-inch Chevrolet V8 engines, includes rear water outlets, two distributor clamp locations, and nitrous bosses, making it suitable for high-performance street or competition engines. Its dual-plane, high-rise design with a 180-degree firing order provides enhanced top-end horsepower while ensuring throttle responsiveness.
Maintaining Edelbrock’s Legacy Of Performance And Style
With the addition of the E85-compatible 4150 carburetor, the versatile 850 CFM carb, and the BBC intake manifold available in striking new finishes, Edelbrock continues to meet the unique needs of racers and street enthusiasts. As McCarthy emphasizes, these products are about more than adding power — they reflect Edelbrock’s respect for the preferences of today’s builders and racers.
