2015 Apollo Mustang Raises $230,000 For EAA Youth Aviation Programs

Screen Shot 2015-08-07 at 8.11.37 AMGREarlier this month, we showcased the 2015 “Apollo Edition” Mustang which Ford developed as a one of one vehicle, dedicated to encouraging a new generation of space pioneers and young engineers. Ford also decided to participate in the Gathering of Eagles auction at the EAA Airventure (Experimental Aircraft Association) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin by auctioning off the “Apollo Edition” Mustang.

When the bidding was over, more than $230,000 was raised for the keys to this one-of-a-kind Mustang, with all proceeds donated to the Young Eagles – which is a program that benefits youth aviation education programs. The Young Eagles program more specifically, has helped to provide free beginners flights to more than 1.9 million youth between the ages of 8 and 17 since 1992.

We're huge fans of this Apollo Edition Mustang's interior. It's subtle, yet extremely advanced.

The Young Eagles program was primarily established to encourage youth to become the next generation of aviation.

But while the Apollo Edition Mustang raised an impressive amount of the proceeds, Ford had actually brought several other unique and one-of-a-kind Mustangs’ that were co-developed by the engineering team at the EAA Youth Education. Each Mustang that Ford donated brought a lot of attention and excitement not only to car enthusiasts, but aviation as well.

In fact, all of the vehicles Ford donated raised a respectable $3 million dollars total.

Ford II, a member of the Ford board of directors. “We’re thrilled this year’s stunning Apollo Edition Mustang raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars to support the freedom of flight for future generations.”
