’57 Chevy Built By CPP Is A Beauty And A Big Winner

What a beauty! The “Bad in Blue” ’57 Chevy built by Classic Performance Products (CPP) Inc., had its dramatic unveiling at the 2012 SEMA Show held in Las Vegas, October 30 to November 2, 2012, as can be seen in the video above. However, it has continued to wow not only Chevy fans, but classic car buffs and judges at car shows from one end of the country to another.

57Chevy4When Mitch Kelly (the painter) first began working on the ’57, he had a vision. Working closely with his dad, Tom, they began some initial drawings before the design was finalized. Dreaming of black flames over blue on the top half of the car, and blue flames over black on the bottom half, Mitch picked up the paint gun and began to work.

This glittering blue gem also features some hidden surprises underneath the hood and inside the vehicle. “We wanted to add something different and new,” Kelly explains about the hidden graphics. “It creates a conversation starter and makes our cars really stand out in a crowd.”

And stand out it does! Following its incredibly positive response at the SEMA show, the CPP crew took “Bad in Blue” to the highly attended annual Goodguys Fall Nationals in Del Mar, California. The popular weekend event draws thousands of car enthusiasts from as far away as Canada and all across the United States. The gang at CPP was excited, but not all that surprised, when its beautiful ’57 was given one of the top 10 “Builders Choice” awards at the Goodguys Fall Nationals.

Then CPP had another successful showing with the ’57 Chevy at the 64th Annual Grand National Roadster Show this year in Pomona. The trick blue paint job caught the attention of many show attendees, and the show judges as well. “Bad in Blue” came home with 1st place in the Street Machine Custom 1949-64 category. The entire crew at CCP was also proud of the other award the ’57 Chevy received, “Outstanding Paint”. Stay tuned for more updates.

The company has been excited to be a part of this project and the CPP parts featured on “Bad in Blue” include Upper and Lower Totally Tubular Control Arms, a 500 Series Power Steering Box, a 29 Gallon Aluminum Gas Tank, its 13-inch Drop Spindle Disc Brake Kit, a Rear Disc Brake Wheel Kit and Conversion Line Kit, a Steering Linkage Kit (with Idler Arm Bearing Conversion Kit) and LS Kit with Coated Headers.

CPP was established in 1991 by owner Jim Ries. With almost three decades of experience in the automotive industry, Ries has been providing the classic truck and car market with top quality steering, and brake and suspension components, along with exceptional service.

57ChevyThe company recently built an additional 10,000 square feet of shop space and now occupies more than 35,000 square feet (including a beautiful 3,000 square foot showroom) with expanded manufacturing facilities including CNC equipment and space for new machines to be acquired later this year.

Its new state-of-the-art website offers the latest product information, updates, installation instructions and secure online ordering.
