Scouring our favorite online forums for the latest in the industry, every once in a while, we stumble across a unique build. Herb Lump is no stranger to the aftermarket world. Over the years, Lump’s efforts have attracted the attention of various print magazines and rightly so. Lump’s ’66 Chevelle and El Camino are both well-known in the industry. Lump’s no-nonsense approach allows his vehicles to shine; eliminating all of what isn’t necessary and keeping what is. This time around, Lump was looking for something a little different.

With the high availability of older trucks on the market, a complete bolt-on approach and utilitarian-like ability, it’s difficult to beat these benefits at a fraction of the cost. It makes sense, too, considering many of the most popular two-door musclecars like Chevelles and Camaros are few and far between.

Finding one in good condition without taking a second mortgage on your home has essentially become a dream. For Lump, building a potent, all-business truck was his route.

To get things going, Lump located a solid ’63 C10. Beginning where it counts, Lump began to outfit his new hauler with all the best this industry has to offer including brakes from CPP, big-block power with a TKO600 to handle shifting, a Vintage Air system, complete wiring from American Autowire, with large wheels and sticky rubber. Of course, the main course consisted of a complete Level II air system from Ridetech to handle the bump, bounce and drop.

While some would just utilize a second-hand housing and fill with all new guts, Lump decided on a complete Moser 12-bolt rearend for the C10. Not only was he able to stay well within his initial budget but the complete rearend came with all new parts including a Detroit Tru-trac, 33-spline axles, 1350 yoke and of course the panhard bar all of the necessary brackets to bolt it all in.
