It pays to keep your eyes open for interesting stuff at car shows out here in California’s performance industry heartland, because you never know what you might come across – This image was shot at Cruisin’ for a Cure in Costa Mesa on September 25, 2010. With Edelbrock’s E-Force supercharger kits already available for the LS3 and L99 Camaro SS and the LS2/LS3 C6 Corvette, it’s not a surprise that they’ve been working on an LS7 version for Z06 cars as well.
This particular 2006 Corvette Z06 is Edelbrock’s R&D car, which doubles as Vic Edelbrock’s daily driver. According to the Edelbrock representative on hand, this was the E-Force LS7’s first public display. The package is reported to deliver 657 HP / 582 TQ (as measured at the crankshaft) on low boost pressure; the representative wouldn’t give an actual boost measurement, but alluded to the fact that it’s pushing less boost than the C6 LS3 kits, which are between 5.5-7.5 psi (depending on the package).
The next logical question is, “when will the kit be available?” – based on the obviously production-ready look of the system, and the information gleaned from our Edelbrock contacts, you can probably expect for it to be shipping before year end, and even possibly by the time the SEMA show rolls around at the beginning of November. We’ll keep you posted as we get more information…
