For those Southern Californians who grew up near the “Happiest Place on Earth” or those who simply love the Anaheim park, Disneyland is something which borders on sacrosanct. That is why many believe Michael Eisner’s hurried California Adventure Park was such a failure. It lacked the attention to thematic detail, the ageless appeal and basic magic of the original park.
Thankfully new management and wiser minds have prevailed. Breaking the bank to open up a multimillion dollar refurbishment of the lackluster theme park, Disney execs have made headway on Carsland, the newest addition to California Adventure. Based completely on the Pixar hit movie Cars, Carsland will let Disney guests enter into the world of Lightning McQueen, Towmater, and all the Radiator Springs residents.
Central to Carsland is the E-Ticket attraction Radiator Springs Racers. The ride sits upwards to six riders per car and catapults them up to nearly 70 miles per hour around a twisting and turning slot-car style track themed like the film’s scenic Ornament Valley landscape. Based upon the “Test Track” attraction found at Disney’s Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida, Radiator Springs Racers will surely draw in daring riders for decades to come.
Here’s the video showing clips of the ride in action.
